How to Measure your Horse

All you need is a Pen and a soft tape measure
PHASE 01: THE BASELINE

Gather Your Tools

To obtain a highly accurate, anatomical fit for your horse, you do not need complex tools.

"All you need is a Pen and a soft tape measure."

PHASE 02: THE ANCHOR

Locate the Magic Point

Most of our measurements start here! Understanding where to align your tape is critical to ensuring your bridle clears your horse's cranial nerves.

"Locate the Magic Point on your horse. This is the bottom of the soft area under the ear as per illustration."

PHASE 03: THE BLUEPRINT

Record Your Measurements

Using a soft tape measure in centimetres, record the following four key measurements to construct your bridle's anatomical coordinates:

A) Over Poll

How to Measure: Measure from the Magic Point on one side, up and over the poll, straight to the Magic Point on the opposite side.

💡 Quick Tip: Keep the tape snug but comfortable.

B) Across Brow

How to Measure: Measure from Magic Point to Magic Point, running flat across the horse's brow.

💡 Quick Tip: Ensure it sits where a browband naturally rests.

C) Cheekpiece

How to Measure: Measure from the Magic Point straight down the side of the face to where the bit usually sits.

💡 Quick Tip: Measure to the top of the bit ring.

D) Noseband Style Guide

How to Measure for Your Noseband Style:

  • Standard Nosebands: Measure the circumference of the nose at a point exactly 2 fingers down from the cheekbone.
  • Grackle Nosebands: Measure from the corner of the cheekbone to the opposite side under the chin to the opposite cheekbone, following the figure 8 where a grackle would normally sit.

💡 Quick Tip: Depends on your bridle preference!
