It connects directly to both sides of the bit, allowing you to attach your lead rein cleanly to the central swivel. Anatomical Configuration
When leading a bitted horse or pony directly from one bit ring, any sudden forward pulling forces the bit to slide sideways, compressing the sensitive lips against the outer teeth. This one-sided pressure can cause bruising and poll resistance. The Newmarket Attachment connects both bit rings to a central swivel, distributing any leading force evenly across both sides of the mouth, keeping the bit centered and preventing jaw pinching.
